From Kurzweil Music Systems official website we have new information on new keyboards presented during Winter NAMM'07.
First comes new stage piano SP2. Thanks God, it is based upon PC1/2 series and has Triple Strike Piano inside. Thats besides the 88-key hammer action, 7-segment LED display and 64-note polyphony. Nice to see control wheels here on the left, USB interface for MIDI and OS update. Though the MIDI setups number is limited by 16 (each with 4 zones). The instrument includes 64 patches. Effects also some from from PC series, Dual Processors (A & B) include: 58 Reverbs, 6 Delays, 10 Choruses, 6 Flangers, 3 Phasers, 4 Shapers, 2 Enhancers, 8 Filtered Effects, 4 Distortions, 1 Mono>Stereo, 3 Wide Stereo, 4 Compressors, 2 Panners, 7 Rotarys, Stereo Tremolo, and 44 combination with Laserverb. Useful addition - a metronome and 64 drum grooves built-in. Yeah, thats what we expected to see here, though the initial price will be over $1k. What to say about Kurzweil PC3? This PC-series based workstation looks questionable for it's around $3000 price. We hope, the return of Ray Kurzweil will give it a push.
As for now in the name of PC3 we get the following: 88 hammer action keys with velocity and aftertouch, display 240 x 64, 128-note polyphony, 832 factory presets including PC2 Base Sound ROM plus extension cards pathes from Orchestral, Classic Keys, General MIDI tones, 64 KB3 programs and a new ROM bank called String Section. And a 16-track sequencer derived from k2xxx series. MIDI setups: 96 factory, 128 user, each with 8 independent zones, with effects and arpeggiator adjustment. 128 slots for user programs. Effects: 16 insert-effects and two additional sends; more than 300 effect types - reverb, delay, chorus, flange, phaser, EQ, distortion, Leslie simulator, compressor and more. There's also master equalizer section to adjust the overall sound. Besides standard wheels the keyboard aslo has 9 programmed drawbar sliders, various pedal inputs, Super Ribbon option and a breath controller input. Nice to see 4 independent arpeggiators, USB interface and a memory card slot here. http://www...om/products.html?Id=1864 Special thanks for supplying info goes to biko ! |
