The father of whole-generation of interesting synths, John Bowen, presents at the expo his latest piece - Solaris synthesizer.
John spent most part of his professional life in such companies as Moog, Korg (Wavestation, OASYS). The recent time he spent developing software synths for the Creamware Scope platform. And actually, Solaris was born from software project, semi-modular synthesizer. Today, reviewing the Musikmesse events we see it's hardware implemention. The Mix magazine rated it as 'Top 10 Certified Hit' on this expo. The device featuring 5-octave keyboard has a nice approach to interface - one 240 x 64 LCD and five displays 40 x 2 plus 40 rotary controllers - that's - by Bowen - a most convenient solition for such a software-hardware transition. For now John Bowen does not consider Solaris to be a mass market hit, the macheine is intended to be somewhere in between the Poly Evolver and Waldorf Stromberg.
